Cologne (dpa / lnw) - With the blue light switched on, a driver has cleared the way on several motorways west of Cologne. He was noticed on the highways 1, 4 and 61, as the police announced on Monday. Witnesses had dialed the emergency call around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday night because the 38-year-old had placed the blue light in the windscreen of his vehicle in the direction of Venlo. At high speed and tailgating, he forced other drivers to change lanes.
A patrol secured the lamp. The man from Frechen is now facing a charge of coercion in traffic and official pretensions. The motive he gave was irritation from other drivers.
