North Rhine-Westphalia: Drugs in doner kebabs: pastors suspected earlier

Düsseldorf / Heinsberg (dpa / lnw) - A Catholic pastor who was caught with hashish and cell phones in kebabs in the Heinsberg prison was previously under suspicion. As can be seen from a confidential report to the state parliament, there was an indication in September 2021 that the man was selling cell phones to prisoners. You couldn't prove it to the pastor - he stayed on duty. The "Bild" newspaper had previously reported.

The fact that the man was caught in July also had a history. The report to the legal committee of the state parliament shows that the pastor had brought food to the group lesson in the youth prison twice unannounced in the spring. The bags were therefore checked the third time. Drugs and mobile phones were found in five out of 13 kebab shops.

The diocese of Aachen - which, according to the report, had already been informed of the initial suspicion last year - irrevocably released the pastor in July. The investigation against the man is still ongoing. According to the paper for the committee, there was a raid on him and numerous JVA employees, prisoners and diocese employees have already been interrogated.
