Leverkusen (dpa / lnw) - shots triggered a large-scale police operation in Leverkusen. After witnesses reported several shots in the Rheindorf district on Saturday evening, 20 patrol car crews and riot police forces were deployed, the police said on Sunday. According to initial findings, a 40-year-old man is said to have gotten into an argument with several people on the street. He is said to have fired two untargeted shots as a threat.

Officials took the suspected shooter into custody at home without resistance. The suspect hid an airsoft gun and another airgun in his trash can in his apartment. According to police, the man was drunk.
