North Rhine-Westphalia: drunks move through the city and injure police officers

Moers (dpa / lnw) - Three police officers were slightly injured in Moers after asking a group of young people to calm down. As the police announced on Monday, around 15 to 20 young people noisily walked the streets late on Saturday evening. When the police came, the young people didn't give a damn about the officers' requests and went on bawling. A 22-year-old filmed the police officers "provocatively" and insulted them. The man did not comply with the request to identify himself. Instead he ran away. When an officer caught up with him, he was thrashing about wildly.

After that, the situation escalated further. A 21-year-old spat on the officer who had provisionally arrested the 22-year-old, and he uttered wild insults. There were further violations in which, among other things, a 24-year-old grabbed a policewoman's hair from behind. Reinforcements rushed in, a patrol car was damaged. A total of three officers were slightly injured, they received medical treatment and then remained able to work. The young people involved were all drunk. At the station, they apologized for their behavior. However, a criminal case awaits them.
