Gelsenkirchen (dpa/lnw) - Around 6,500 people have to leave a larger evacuation area on Friday to defuse a dud bomb in Gelsenkirchen. The city announced the measure for the morning. Defusing the ten hundredweight bomb from World War II required a larger evacuation radius than originally thought. Affected residents should also be informed via the security service. The defusing was planned for noon.
The dud was discovered in the area of an allotment garden. Local public transport is also temporarily affected by local closures. Collection points have been set up for which, according to the city, masks should be compulsory.
