North Rhine-Westphalia: Düsseldorf fire brigade extinguishes fire in the horse stable

Dusseldorf (dpa / lnw) - A fire broke out in a barn with horses on Saturday afternoon in Dusseldorf after a bang. The fire brigade responded to the fire in the Hamm district with several fire engines. The cause of the fire was initially unclear, according to the fire department. A thick column of black smoke could be seen from miles away as we approached.

The building burned in an area about 150 square meters ago. A firefighter was slightly injured during the extinguishing work. He was treated by the emergency services and then taken to the hospital, it said.

The work was made more difficult because the extinguishing water had to be supplied from a hydrant that was further away. The fire was under control after less than an hour. However, the deployment will continue for an indefinite period of time. All of the approximately 20 horses from the stable were brought to safety in good time.
