Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) - In view of the energy crisis, the city of Düsseldorf switches off part of its historical lighting at night with 8,000 gas lanterns. Analogous to the operational break of the Rheinbahn, the 8,000 selected lanterns are to be switched off from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. from October 15, the state capital announced after a decision by the crisis team on Thursday. The police are checking whether replacement lighting needs to be set up in some areas for safety reasons. Several media reported about it.
