North Rhine-Westphalia: Ex-boyfriend is said to have killed 17-year-olds: crime scene unclear

Hamm/Iserlohn (dpa/lnw) - After the body of a dead 17-year-old was found near Hamm, it is still unclear where the girl was killed. The crime scene has not yet been determined, said senior public prosecutor Carsten Dombert on Monday. There is therefore no information from the suspected 26-year-old ex-boyfriend of the young people, who is in custody. The man was silent on the allegations with the police and before the magistrate, the spokesman said.

A cyclist discovered the burning body on Friday morning on a path in a nature reserve. The investigators assume that the woman had been dead for several days and that the body was burned there to remove traces. Her parents reported her missing on June 14 after she failed to return from walking her dog in the woods.

The autopsy revealed that the girl died not from the flames, but from "massive force to the neck." Chief prosecutor Dombert said on Monday that a weapon, such as a knife, was not involved. Rather, it goes in the direction that the 17-year-old was inflicted with shortness of breath.

The investigators are now evaluating seized objects - such as the ex-boyfriend's cell phone - as well as radio cells in which the cell phones of victims and suspects were registered. Both are German.

In Iserlohn-Letmathe in Sauerland, where the student lived, there was mourning after her death. A sports club is planning a memorial service on Thursday, and according to a city spokeswoman there is a fundraiser for the family. According to media reports, an ecumenical funeral service is also being considered.
