North Rhine-Westphalia: Fatal shot at the fair: information on those involved

Lüdenscheid (dpa / lnw) - After the fatal shot at the fair in Lüdenscheid, the investigators received information about the other suspects involved. The main suspect, a 16-year-old youth, is already in custody on suspicion of manslaughter. The responsible public prosecutor did not want to say whether the person who is said to have fired from a blank gun is now also known.

He also left open whether the murder weapon could be secured. The shot from the sharp weapon is said to have been fired from a group of six last weekend. An apparently uninvolved 40-year-old man from Gummersbach was killed.

The teenager was arrested on Monday evening with the help of special forces in Lüdenscheid. His defense attorney could not initially be reached for comment on Wednesday. The apartment was also searched when he was arrested.

At the fair in Lüdenscheid in the northwest of the Sauerland, there was a "physical altercation" between a 16-year-old and the group on Saturday evening. When the teenager and his 52-year-old father wanted to confront the group, they fled to a residential area. According to the information, two of them fired shots from a blank gun and a live firearm at their pursuers during the escape. The 40-year-old was fatally hit. The investigators had given the age of the group as 16 to 20 years.

The fair continued despite the incident. It should last until May 29th. According to the organizer, the security staff was strengthened after the incident.
