North Rhine-Westphalia: Father's Day trips without corona restrictions

Last year, handcarts in NRW mostly had to stay in the basement or garage. Corona contact restrictions stood in the way of Father's Day trips in many places. It's different this time.

Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) - This year, there are no longer any extensive corona restrictions to prevent the convivial Father's Day trips with handcarts and drinks on Ascension Day. A spokesman for the NRW Ministry of Health explained on request that the mask requirement in local transport should still be observed on excursions this Thursday. The mask requirement is part of the Corona Protection Ordinance in force up to and including Friday.

Corona contact rules did not allow sociable handcart tours with many friends in many places last year. In some cities with a high incidence, there were also special regulations that further reduced entertainment. In Leverkusen, there were temporary bans on popular excursion destinations on the Rhine, and in Cologne alcohol was banned on the barbecue areas. Elsewhere, picnics were prohibited or masks were compulsory in parks and on lake shores.
