North Rhine-Westphalia: FDP and SPD accuse the government of missing proposals

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - After the government statement by Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU), the FDP and SPD accused the state government of lacking initiatives to deal with the gas crisis. "We need your own proposals from you!" Said the FDP MP Dietmar Brockes on Wednesday in a current hour of parliament. The people and companies expected a state-owned relief plan. The SPD parliamentary group accused the black-green state government of a "summer slumber" - MP Alexander Vogt referred to enormous financial burdens for many people on the one hand and extreme profits for some companies on the other. The AfD called for a stronger focus on domestic coal and nuclear energy to overcome the crisis.

Prime Minister Wüst had previously called for a third relief package from the federal government in his government statement. A warm apartment or the way to work should "not be a luxury," he said in the state parliament on Wednesday. For people with low and medium incomes, pensioners, trainees or Hartz IV recipients, the load limit has already been exceeded. NRW is ready to support the relief for the population and the economy. The state is contributing half a billion euros to the reduction in VAT as compensation for the gas surcharge. The actual debate on Wüst's government statement is scheduled for this Thursday according to Parliament's agenda.
