North Rhine-Westphalia: fire brigade saves cat from corridor full of smoke

Moers (dpa / lnw) - Firefighters rescued a cat from a hallway full of smoke in Moers. The emergency services were alerted on Monday evening because of a fire in a house basement, they said. When they arrived, all residents were already outside the building - but it was said that there was still a cat in the hallway of the apartment building. "Using respiratory protection, a team fought the fire in the basement, another team was able to find the cat in the heavily smoky hallway and finally brought it to safety," says the fire department report. The animal could then be handed over to its owner unharmed.
