Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The fire brigade rescued a woman and her cat from a burning apartment in Düsseldorf on Saturday evening. The woman was treated with minor injuries in the hospital, said a spokesman for the fire brigade on Sunday and added: "As far as I know, nothing happened to the cat." The apartment was uninhabitable after the fire.
The fire broke out in a room on the fourth floor for reasons that are still unclear. Before the emergency services led her outside, the resident closed the room door "quite mentally", said the spokesman. This prevented the fire from spreading further and it was quickly extinguished. The cat was not in the burning room at the time and was taken outside after the fire was extinguished.
