North Rhine-Westphalia: Fire contained in the Essen forest area

Essen (dpa / lnw) - After a fire in a forest area in Essen, the fire brigade rained the affected area heavily on Tuesday morning as a precaution because of the drought. "We make everything really nice and wet," said a spokesman, referring to a system that delivers 150 liters of water per minute. Fortunately, the flames were reported early on Monday evening. "The fire was on a slope, it could have gotten out of control in the drought." The fire brigade was able to intervene quickly in a larger operation and limit the flames to a "clear" area.
