Dortmund (dpa / lnw) - A resident died in a kitchen fire in a single-family house in Dortmund-Aplerbeck. The 81-year-old was found unconscious by the fire department on Thursday evening on the ground floor of the smoky house, a spokesman said. The emergency doctor therefore declared her dead. According to the police, the 58-year-old son had previously tried in vain to free his mother from the house. He was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation. It was initially unclear how the fire in the kitchen started. The police also gave no information on the extent of the damage.
