North Rhine-Westphalia: fire in asylum accommodation: arson suspected

Langenfeld (dpa / lnw) - After the fire in which four people were injured in an accommodation for asylum seekers in Langenfeld near Düsseldorf, the investigators are assuming intentional arson. This is the result of the investigation of the crime scene by a fire expert, said a police spokesman in Mettmann on Wednesday. The fire late Friday evening caused damage in the six-figure range.

There was a fire in two different places in the building complex within just 90 minutes. Investigators are not ruling out a connection. During the first operation, a mattress was on fire, which had already been extinguished by a resident before the fire brigade arrived. The second mission caused major damage: the accommodation was then no longer habitable. Around 60 people had to be accommodated elsewhere.
