North Rhine-Westphalia: Fire in the girlfriend's apartment: 42-year-old in custody

Kleve (dpa / lnw) - A 42-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of serious arson because he is said to have set fire to his sleeping girlfriend's apartment after a dispute. As the police and public prosecutor's office in Kleve announced on Wednesday, the dispute is said to have taken place in the apartment in Geldern last Sunday. While the woman was sleeping, the 42-year-old set fire to furniture in his girlfriend's living room. The woman was awakened by the fire and fled the apartment in time. Other residents of the house would have saved the police and fire brigade. Both the woman and the suspected arsonist suffered injuries in the fire.
