Alsdorf (dpa / lnw) - A total of seven people were injured in a fire on a harvested field in Alsdorf near Aachen on Tuesday. The Alsdorf fire brigade and the Aachen police were still busy with extinguishing and security measures at the fire site in the Birk district in the evening. The fire brigade and police in Aachen said that the constant wind made the work more difficult because it kept igniting embers. Two drones were also used for reconnaissance measures.
According to current knowledge, around 2.5 hectares of a harvested field caught fire for an unknown reason. The fire then spread to a homestead, but by evening the fire was under control. Three residents and two firefighters suffered minor injuries, two other firefighters had to be taken to the hospital with serious injuries. However, there is no danger to life for any of the patients.
