Essen (dpa / lnw) - The people in North Rhine-Westphalia can expect clear and frosty winter weather at the end of the weekend. According to the forecast by the German Weather Service (DWD), on Sunday night there will be severe frost with temperatures that can locally drop to minus 13 degrees. Over the course of the night, patches of cloud will pass through from the west.

On Sunday it will initially be sunny with daily highs of zero to three degrees in the lowlands and minus two degrees at higher altitudes. According to the forecast, dense cloud fields will appear during the course of the day, but it will remain dry until the evening. Then, however, rain set in on Monday night, which caused considerable formation of black ice and thus dangerous road conditions throughout NRW. Temperatures will rise to seven to ten degrees on Monday.
