North Rhine-Westphalia: Forest fire in Lüdenscheid: B54 closed

Lüdenscheid (dpa / lnw) - At least 35,000 square meters of a forest area burned on Sunday on the B54 near Lüdenscheid (Märkischer Kreis). As the city announced, the federal road between the Oedenthal junction and Bruges was closed. The fire broke out on a slope above the street for reasons that have not yet been clarified. In order to prevent the fire from spreading to the adjacent forest area, the fire brigade forces cut aisles on the steep slope in addition to the extinguishing work. Road users should avoid the area extensively.
