North Rhine-Westphalia: fresh snow offers skiing fun: the cold is still there

Winterberg (dpa / lnw) - With fresh snow and minus temperatures, winter in NRW has also returned in the ski areas at high altitudes. In the Sauerland, up to 15 centimeters of snow fell on the Kahler Asten on Saturday night, as a spokeswoman for the Winterberg winter sports arena said. Together with the technically generated snow as a basis, this offered skiers and tobogganists a layer that was easy to ride. And also trees and landscape appeared in fresh white.

The 46 slopes open on Saturday were correspondingly full, as reported by a dpa reporter. Many visitors also came from the neighboring Netherlands on Saturday to enjoy winter sports with skiing and tobogganing just before the end of the main season.

The weather forecast for the next few days continues to promise cold weather in NRW, as the spokeswoman said. Snowfall will ease by Sunday. The nights will be clear and frosty with temperatures as low as minus nine degrees. Temperatures will rise to four to six degrees during the day, and to seven degrees along the Rhine on Tuesday. There is quite a lot of sun shining.

According to the information, negative values are also expected during the day in the Sauerland. This gives the ski lift operators the opportunity to technically produce snow again and to extend the skiing fun for a few more days, as it was said.
