Königswinter (dpa / lnw) - An 80-year-old woman died in a head-on collision on the Siebengebirge exit of Autobahn 3. Five people were seriously injured. A 53-year-old driver is said to have suddenly turned left into oncoming traffic on the exit, the police said on Thursday. The 80-year-old, who was sitting in the oncoming car, died at the scene of the accident.
It was initially unclear why the 53-year-old got into the oncoming lane on Thursday afternoon. A police spokeswoman said that the lanes were not structurally separated at this point. In addition to the 53-year-old, another person was seriously injured in their car. Three occupants of the other car were seriously injured.
