North Rhine-Westphalia: Further increasing trend in new corona infections in NRW

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The new corona infections have increased again in North Rhine-Westphalia. The seven-day incidence increased to 465.0 on Friday - after a value of 395.9 the day before, as reported by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). A weekly comparison also showed an increasing trend: on September 30, the incidence was still 368.6. NRW is currently still well below the nationwide value, which was given on Friday morning with 577.5 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within one week.

The health authorities in NRW recently reported 245,849 new corona infections and 22 new deaths within one day to the RKI.

However, the information only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations and transmission problems can lead to the distortion of individual daily values.
