North Rhine-Westphalia: High protection for clinics and homes: No school closures

Bochum (dpa / lnw) - According to Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU), North Rhine-Westphalia is preparing for a third Corona autumn. An initial timetable had been agreed, he said on Tuesday after the first external meeting of his new black-green cabinet in Bochum. On this basis, the ministries would develop precise guidelines in the coming weeks. One thing is clear: there will be no more closures of daycare centers and schools.

The protection of vulnerable groups is key, and it is also important to avoid overloading the health system, emphasized Wüst. In clinics and nursing homes, tests will be mandatory. It is clear: "The tests must remain free of charge."

Following the round at the State Center for Health - the specialist department advises the state government and municipalities on health issues - Wüst emphasized that the new government wanted to act "early and proportionately" in the fight against the pandemic. There will also be a new vaccination campaign in the fall. It is still unclear with which vaccine and for whom exactly. But you have to be able to act quickly.

NRW is one of the states that in the past few weeks have repeatedly asked the federal government for a speedy legal basis for further protection against a new corona wave in autumn.
