North Rhine-Westphalia: House of Juvenile Justice: More security from intensive offenders

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The North Rhine-Westphalian state capital now also has a "House of Juvenile Justice" for closer monitoring of young offenders. Top representatives of the state government and the city opened the seventh facility in NRW on Monday. Police, youth welfare and the public prosecutor's office work together in the houses to quickly and consistently set clear boundaries for juvenile intensive offenders, to monitor them more closely and to support them in their personal and social situation. After all, education is still the top priority for them, said Mayor Stephan Keller (CDU).

"The aim is to move tables together, to combine core competencies and to end prospective criminal careers early," explained NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU). The concept has already proven itself as a successful model in other cities.

NRW Minister of Justice Benjamin Limbach (Greens) expressed the hope that the security situation in the state capital and the feeling of security among the population would be strengthened. There are already youth rights centers in Cologne, Paderborn, Dortmund, Essen, Oberhausen and Münster. Aachen is also planning such a facility.
