North Rhine-Westphalia: Incidence in NRW continues to fall

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the seven-day incidence of new corona infections in North Rhine-Westphalia on Saturday morning as 479.8. The previous day the value was higher at 497.3 - also a week earlier at 588.8. NRW thus remains below the nationwide seven-day incidence, which according to the RKI was 578.1 on Saturday morning. The trend is therefore falling state and nationwide. However, these data only provide a very incomplete picture of the number of infections.

Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases that are not recorded by the health authorities - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics. In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.

According to the RKI, there were 12,442 new confirmed corona cases within one day in NRW. The number of deaths related to Covid-19 rose by a further 23 in the most populous federal state. Since the outbreak of the pandemic in NRW, there have been a total of more than 26,000 of around 144,000 deaths nationwide in connection with Corona.
