North Rhine-Westphalia: injured after the festival: investigations into drivers

Bochum (dpa / lnw) - The man who injured several people with his car in July after the "Bochum Total" music festival is being investigated, among other things, because of the initial suspicion of dangerous bodily harm. This was announced by the public prosecutor's office in Bochum on Wednesday. The "WAZ" had previously reported about it.

According to the police, the 24-year-old at the time of the crime turned into a street around midnight after the event, but the rear area was blocked off because of the festival. He therefore first passed a larger group of people, turned around and was then blocked by this group. According to witnesses, drinks cups were thrown onto the car, and finally a person with a beer bottle destroyed the rear window. "In order to escape the situation, the 24-year-old drove off," the July police statement said. A 26-year-old woman was also in the car.

From the group, a 25-year-old man from Bochum was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital for inpatient treatment. According to the police, four other men between the ages of 22 and 29 suffered minor injuries. The driver from Wuppertal was slightly injured. When he stopped his car about 100 meters further and got out, he was approached by a stranger, according to the police.

According to a spokesman for the public prosecutor's office, the initial suspicion of dangerous bodily harm has been under investigation since mid-July, and the man is also accused of coercion. The investigation is still ongoing, it said.
