North Rhine-Westphalia: jubilation about promotion: "With the hard core to Mallorca"

Düren (dpa / lnw) - They have already played against FC Bayern, now they can look forward to regular duels with well-known traditional clubs. The ambitious 1. FC Düren, which was only founded in 2017, has been promoted to the Regionalliga West and will face Alemannia Aachen, Preußen Münster and Rot-Weiss Oberhausen in the coming season. Before the time comes, however, the celebrations should not be neglected. "June 12th is the last day of the game, then the hard core will go to Mallorca for the end of the season and on June 20th we'll start preparing again," said sporting director Dirk Ruhrig.

The promotion from the Mittelrheinliga, which has been fixed since Sunday, may also have saved the club from having to look for a coach, as coach Giuseppe Brunetto himself explained. "Now I can also say it publicly: I've always said to my closest circles - as much fun as it is for me in Düren: I don't know if I would have had the strength if we hadn't made it, another one year in the premier league," he said. "I'm just really excited, it's great fun to be able to work in the regional league."

Brunetto thanked the team for the strong season with 83 points from 32 games so far. "You can be the best craftsman. If you don't have the right tools, then you can tell a lot."

The people of Düren played against FC Bayern Munich in the first round of the 2020/21 DFB Cup and lost the game 0:3.
