North Rhine-Westphalia: Karl May Festival attracts with "Treasure in the Silver Lake"

Elspe (dpa / lnw) - With more than 60 performers and 40 horses, the Karl May Festival in Elspe in the Sauerland starts this Saturday. In the 2022 season, "Der Schatz im Silbersee" will be performed on the open-air stage. Jean-Marc Birkholz ("In Love with Berlin") once again plays Winnetou. Martin Kah slips back into the role of his blood brother Old Shatterhand. This time the festival lasts until September 4th and, as usual, will be accompanied by numerous shows and stunt productions.

Last year, the Karl May Games took place under Corona conditions as a model project on a smaller scale with only 1000 to 1500 visitors each. In 2021, "The Oil Prince" was on the program. Every summer, the festival attracts well over 200,000 visitors to the Sauerland in normal times.
