North Rhine-Westphalia: Largest NRW project: new construction of the track hall started

Duisburg (dpa / lnw) - At the Duisburg main station, the new construction of the track hall, which cost around 260 million euros, officially began on Monday. The junction on the main route in the Ruhr area, which is important for NRW traffic, will receive a light-flooded, wave-shaped roof and six new platforms, said the Bahn Group representative Werner J. Lübberink. The new building is currently the largest railway project in North Rhine-Westphalia. The work is scheduled to be completed in 2028. With a total of 212 million euros, the federal government will assume 80 percent of the costs, said Federal Transport State Secretary Susanne Henckel.
