North Rhine-Westphalia: Laumann: In the future, free citizen tests will no longer be available to everyone

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - North Rhine-Westphalia's Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU) has spoken out in favor of only making free citizen tests available to certain groups of people in the future. He can certainly understand the self-contribution planned by the federal government for some citizens, Laumann told the German Press Agency on Monday.

"We should deal with the citizen tests in a more targeted manner," says Laumann. It is therefore right that the tests for vulnerable groups should continue to be paid for in the future. Who will be specifically tested for Corona free of charge in the future still has to be specified in the final regulation of the Federal Ministry of Health. So far there is only one draft. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia then intends to issue a corresponding regulation. According to the federal government, citizen tests should no longer be free for everyone from July. However, the states should be free to bear the costs themselves.
