North Rhine-Westphalia: Live music clubs are compensated for part of the corona losses

Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) - Concert venues and clubs for live music in North Rhine-Westphalia can, under certain conditions, again have corona-related losses compensated for by the state's "cultural strengthening fund". The Ministry of Culture and Science announced on Monday that 3.75 million euros would be made available for this purpose.

Venues that are artistically relevant to cultural life in NRW from a state perspective are eligible to apply, as stated in the funding conditions. The prerequisite is, for example, that at least 12 concerts (in the area belonging to the district) or at least 24 (in the area outside the district) were held in 2019.

According to the information, a maximum of 90 percent of the corona-related loss of income can be reimbursed, not construction measures and investments. The state had already supported live venues with around 1.5 million euros at the end of 2020. Applications can be submitted until September 9th.
