North Rhine-Westphalia: Man critically injured in paraglider emergency landing

Enger (dpa / lnw) - When a tandem paraglider made an emergency landing, a 50-year-old was critically injured in Enger (Herford district). The paraglider was probably off course and the pilot had to make an emergency landing in a field next to the actual runway, a police spokesman said on Sunday.

The 50-year-old who was flying with him was so badly injured on Saturday that he had to be taken to the hospital in a rescue helicopter. The 54-year-old pilot, on the other hand, was unharmed.

It was initially unclear why the pilot missed the runway. In tandem flights, the person flying hangs under the pilot. This, together with the aircraft, probably landed on the 50-year-old. Several media had previously reported on the accident.
