North Rhine-Westphalia: Man holds a knife to the neck of a police officer: the shot was emergency aid

Zülpich (dpa / lnw) - Two months after the death of a rioter by a shot from a police gun, investigations against a police officer have been discontinued. The public prosecutor's office in Bonn announced on Wednesday that Zülpich was about emergency aid. The shot in the head of the 31-year-old was justified because he put a police officer in a headlock and threatened him with a knife on his neck. The police officer, who was about four meters away, had no other option "than to ward off the attack on the colleague by shooting once in the head area".

The police were alerted on October 24 because the 31-year-old tried to force his parents' house in Zülpich (Euskirchen district). The mother dialed 911. According to investigators, the officer fired only one shot. The 31-year-old died at the scene.
