North Rhine-Westphalia: Mask refuser process: 33-year-old denies provocation

Bonn (dpa / lnw) - Two years after the appearance of aggressive mask refusers in a supermarket in Troisdorf, a second trial started on Tuesday before the Bonn district court: the trial against the 33-year-old woman had been separated because eight days before the had given birth to a child in the main proceedings in June 2021. In the trial a year ago, two men were given suspended sentences. They had gone to the supermarket without mouth and nose protection to protest against the mask requirement in the corona pandemic and had triggered a police operation in which the two officers were injured. One of the men was assigned to the "Reichsbürger" scene.

The 33-year-old defendant was involved. She declared on Tuesday that "every other sentence in the indictment was false" and denied any planned provocation. They didn't have big plans back then. She was only there because she wanted to shop for Mother's Day. "The whole thing got out of hand," said the accused.

The trio had gone to the supermarket without a corona face mask and had not put on any masks despite being asked to do so. When the alarmed police arrived, the situation escalated. One of the mask refusers filmed the action with a body cam. The video was later posted online. The trial against the 33-year-old continues.
