North Rhine-Westphalia: Minister of Justice: Public prosecutor for environmental crimes

Bielefeld (dpa / lnw) - Benjamin Limbach, designated new state justice minister in North Rhine-Westphalia, wants to set up a special public prosecutor's office for environmental crimes. The administration expert announced this on Saturday at the state party conference of the Greens in Bielefeld.

Limbach is currently President of the Federal University for Public Administration. If the delegates agree to the coalition agreement between the CDU and the Greens, Limbach will lead the Ministry of Justice. There are public prosecutors in NRW who specialize in white-collar crime or cybercrime, for example. The Greens have been calling for more targeted prosecution of environmental crimes for years.
