North Rhine-Westphalia: Minister side jobs: Scharrenbach has the most mandates

Dusseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Construction Minister Ina Scharrenbach (CDU) is entitled to most of the additional income in the cabinet through numerous mandates at the state-owned NRW.Bank. This results from a listing by the state government at the request of the German Press Agency. Other members of the government also receive remuneration, primarily from the NRW.Bank, with politicians having to pay everything over EUR 10,673.79 to the state treasury.

As can be seen from the list, Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst, Interior Minister Herbert Reul, Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann, School Minister Dorothee Feller (all CDU) and Family Minister Josefine Paul (Greens) have no income from sideline activities. Almost all other cabinet members sit on at least one committee of NRW.Bank, only Minister of Justice Benjamin Limbach (Greens) was without a mandate at the bank in 2022, but co-editor of a collection of regulations and a magazine. According to the government, both together were remunerated with 1500 euros per year.

A low sum compared to the NRW.Bank, which is said to pay between 2000 euros and 5000 euros per year and committee plus attendance fees (300 euros each). Minister Scharrenbach, for example, is entitled to EUR 37,000 plus EUR 300 per meeting through nine mandates per year.

Economics Minister Mona Neubaur (Greens) would come to 29,000 euros for seven NRW.Bank items. Among other things, she is Chair of the Board of Directors, Chair of other bank committees and a member of several committees. Because Neubaur only became a minister at the end of June and thus, among other things, head of the administrative board, the sum in 2022 - as with many members of the government - was correspondingly lower.
