North Rhine-Westphalia: Münster/Osnabrück Airport closes for a good two weeks

Münster (dpa / lnw) - Münster/Osnabrück Airport will be closed for a good two weeks in November due to extensive renovation work on the runway. Operations will cease on November 14 at 7 a.m. and will resume on November 30 at 8 p.m., the airport announced on Wednesday. The airlines and tour operators have already been informed about the closure and have adjusted their flight schedules accordingly.

During the renovation, a new surface layer is to be applied to the more than 2.1 kilometer long runway. In addition, the entire runway lighting and the approach lighting from the west are to be renewed. Such an extensive modernization project cannot be carried out during ongoing flight operations. The airport put the costs at around 10 million euros. Münster/Osnabrück Airport is expecting a total of around 750,000 passengers this year.
