North Rhine-Westphalia: North Rhine-Westphalia plans reconstruction conference for Ukraine

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - North Rhine-Westphalia wants to organize a reconstruction conference for Ukraine in March, which was largely destroyed by the Russian war of aggression. Economics Minister Mona Neubaur (Greens) said in an interview with the German Press Agency that business representatives from Ukraine would be invited. "This should support the reconstruction of Ukraine and also be a signal of strength." Since the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24, NRW has been "keeping alive" the cooperation with the Ukrainian economy, said the deputy prime minister.

At the same time, NRW is currently establishing relations with the Ukrainian partner region of Dnipropetrovsk and supporting it with emergency power generators, for example. "But we are also looking at the time after the war, for which we as the state government are doing everything we can to ensure that Ukraine, as part of Europe, will experience economic growth, in good cooperation with our industrial state of North Rhine-Westphalia."

North Rhine-Westphalia has established a regional partnership with the Ukrainian region of Dnipropetrovsk. At the start, NRW had already brought 370 power generators to Dnipropetrovsk. There and in other parts of Ukraine, many people are without electricity and heating at the beginning of winter as a result of the targeted Russian attacks on the power system.
