North Rhine-Westphalia: "Not crowned with success": Oliseh resigns in Straelen

Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The Olympic champion and long-time Bundesliga professional Sunday Oliseh resigned after only six competitive games without a point at the regional soccer team SV Straelen. This is reported by "Reviersport". "Of course, that wasn't a commitment that was crowned with success," said Straelen's sports director Kevin Wolze to the specialist magazine: "There was a major upheaval in the squad. It wasn't easy starting conditions for Sunday Oliseh. Nevertheless, the team has quality and this potential unfortunately could not be retrieved."

The 47-year-old was Olympic champion with Nigeria in 1996 and played in the Bundesliga for 1. FC Köln, Borussia Dortmund and VfL Bochum. Straelen put up a brave fight in the 3:4 in the DFB Cup against second division club FC St. Pauli, but in the league the team from Niederrhein is bottom of the table after five defeats in five games.
