Krefeld (dpa / lnw) - The North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of the Interior and the city of Krefeld have organized the third state-wide civil protection day - this time with the focus on "Alarm". The program on Saturday included exercises and a test alarm, rescue service organizations, technical relief organizations and the fire brigade were on site, as the ministry announced.
"Unfortunately, extreme weather events and power failures often hit us unexpectedly. However, we can prepare ourselves and our environment for disasters to a certain extent. It starts in our own household," said Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) according to the announcement. In Krefeld, visitors were able to find out about civil protection and self-protection at home.
The first Civil Protection Day took place in Bonn in October 2021. In August 2022, another one followed in Dortmund on the main topic "Severe weather".
