North Rhine-Westphalia: NRW exports in the first half of the year above the pre-corona level

Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) - In the first half of 2022, the North Rhine-Westphalian economy exported goods worth a good 115 billion euros. Exports were not only 18.8 percent above the previous year's value, but also 17.2 percent above the level of the last pre-Corona year 2019, as the state statistical office IT.NRW announced on Wednesday.

The value of imports increased by 28.2 percent to 157.5 billion euros in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year. Imports were 26.8 percent above the pre-pandemic level.

In June alone, the North Rhine-Westphalian economy exported goods worth 20.5 billion euros. The value of the imports totaled 27.2 billion euros. The pre-crisis level of June 2019, which was unaffected by the corona pandemic, was thus significantly exceeded for both exports (30.6 percent) and imports (36.0 percent).
