Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The price increase in North Rhine-Westphalia is accelerating. The inflation rate was 8.1 percent in May, as the state statistics office announced on Monday. In April, the value was still 7.7 percent. Compared to April, prices were now 0.9 percent higher. Noodles in particular became more expensive: they cost an average of 12.6 percent more than in April. Prices for edible oils and butter were similarly high. Meat, fish and eggs cost about three percent more. Peppers and tomatoes, on the other hand, were cheaper.
