North Rhine-Westphalia: NRW no longer wants to offer any extra corona vaccinations from 2023

Düsseldorf (dpa/lnw) - Anyone who wants to be vaccinated against the corona virus in NRW will probably only be able to do so from resident doctors and pharmacies from next year. The districts and independent cities should only provide their stationary or mobile vaccination offers until the end of this year, as the Ministry of Health in Düsseldorf announced on Wednesday. Only in the event that, contrary to expectations, supplementary state vaccination services become necessary again should the municipalities prepare to be able to vaccinate 250 people per 100,000 inhabitants per week on a mobile basis at short notice. The state parliament must approve this plan, which is limited to the end of March.

"Vaccinations remain the most important protection against serious illnesses," emphasized Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU). Everyone should check their vaccination protection and compare it with the current recommendations of the Standing Vaccination Commission. This advises, for example, over 60-year-olds and people with previous illnesses a second corona booster vaccination. "And get advice from the doctors or pharmacists," says Laumann.

In the past two years, the municipal vaccination offers have made an extremely important contribution to overcoming the corona pandemic, the minister said according to the announcement. "In the meantime, however, the general conditions have fortunately changed."
