North Rhine-Westphalia: Overturned tanker truck loses oil

Herzogenrath (dpa / lnw) - In Herzogenrath near Aachen, several thousand liters of heating oil flowed onto the road and into the sewage system on Friday after a truck trailer overturned. According to the police, the 27-year-old driver of a tanker truck had touched the inner curb in a roundabout and then swayed. "Speed, mass inertia and centrifugal force" would have caused the tank trailer to fall over, leaving it with the wheels facing up. The driver got away with a fright. Fire brigades from Germany and the immediately neighboring Netherlands pumped out the oil.
