North Rhine-Westphalia: physical injury and fraud: investigations against a doctor

Oberhausen (dpa / lnw) - A specialist from Oberhausen is said to have omitted informative talks with patients and manipulated bills. The police and public prosecutor announced on Friday that the 45-year-old was being investigated for commercial fraud, negligent and intentional bodily harm. The man had been employed as chief physician in a hospital in Oberhausen for several years. He is said to have enriched himself in over 100 cases through billing fraud. In addition, he is said to have carried out mandatory discussions with patients before operations several times too late or not at all.

Several people had to be hospitalized after their operation, and at least one person even came to the intensive care unit after an operation. According to the authorities, it was initially not possible to estimate the extent of the damage caused. During searches, evidence was seized that now has to be evaluated.
