North Rhine-Westphalia: Police officer beats colleagues at traffic control

Mönchengladbach (dpa / lnw) - A suspected drunk police officer hit a colleague during a traffic check and later made allegations against the inspectors in an Internet video. The 39-year-old man was stopped with his car in the Mönchengladbach district of Geistenbeck by police officers who noticed the smell of alcohol and "signs of drug use" on him on Friday evening. During the check, he hit one of his fellow officers, the police said on Sunday night. Several emergency services brought the man to the ground and handcuffed him. He was then taken to a police station, where a blood sample was taken.

The 39-year-old later published a video on the Internet in which he accused the other officers of injuring him during the operation. Investigations were initiated against the man because of the traffic offense and the acts of resistance as well as his allegations on the Internet.
