North Rhine-Westphalia: potting soil led to the track: police discovered drug plantation

Aachen / Linnich (dpa / lnw) - A large load of potting soil has brought the police on the trail of two suspected drug producers. The 31 and 41-year-old men were arrested in a raid in Linnich (Düren district) and should be brought before the magistrate on Friday, the Aachen police reported. During a search in a Linnicher residential area, the officers found an illegal drug plantation with a total of 580 cannabis plants. Drugs with a sales value in the six-figure range could have been produced from this, a spokeswoman said.

The starting point was a general traffic control in September last year, the statement said. The officers noticed that two men were transporting an unusually large amount of potting soil in their vehicle. That triggered extensive investigations, which have now ended with an access. Special police units were also involved in the operation.
