Gelsenkirchen (dpa/lnw) - Bundesliga soccer club FC Schalke 04 can continue to plan with the support of sponsor Vivawest. As the club announced on Wednesday, the Gelsenkirchen-based housing company, which joined the then second division club as the main sponsor last season, is continuing its commitment as a premium partner. Planned are, among other things, perimeter presence on match days and a rights package for presence on the digital channels of the club. Schalke did not provide any information about financial details. A week ago, the Bundesliga promoted presented the online platform "MeinAuto.de" as the new main sponsor.
After the separation from the Russian group and long-term main sponsor Gazprom due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Vivawest stepped in as main sponsor for a short time in March and saved the financially troubled Revierclub from even greater difficulties. Gazprom has been the club's main donor since 2007.
"Vivawest gave us a helping hand in a challenging time and together with us we managed to make the effort to return to the Bundesliga. That will bind us together forever," Schalke CEO Bernd Schröder was quoted as saying in the statement.
