North Rhine-Westphalia: Promotion favorite Münster has had a successful start to the season

Dusseldorf (dpa / lnw) - Preußen Münster underpinned its ambitions to advance to the 3rd football league right at the start of the new season. On the 1st day of the Regionalliga West, the team of Prussia coach Sascha Hildmann defeated newly promoted SG Wattenscheid 4:1 (2:1).

Wattenscheid took the lead through Kim Sané, older brother of Bayern Munich international Leroy Sané (13th minute), but before the break Andrew Wooten (16th) and Henok Teklab (45th penalty kick) scored for Münster. "We kept calm and then played a very dominant second half. You also have to understand that it takes a while for the first two or three games to get into your rhythm," said Prussian team captain Marc Lorenz on Saturday.

"It's crazy, we had 7,000 spectators at the first home game. This atmosphere is so much fun," explained Coach Hildmann after the successful start. In the pre-season, the former Bundesliga club from Münster had just missed out on promotion and had to give way to Rot-Weiss Essen due to the worse goal difference.

In a survey conducted by the "fussball.de" portal among the 18 coaches of the west squadron, Münster was named as the promotion favorite before the start of the season.
